Class of Winter 2007 Glenn Fellows
Christina Amatos is a junior from Columbus, OH double majoring in Political Science and Anthropology. Last summer, Christina interned at the Canadian Parliament for the Honorable Maria Minna doing research on the important role of unpaid caregivers. An active student on campus, Christina has been involved with the Honors and Scholars Day Program since 2004, and a member of the Romophos Sophomore Class Honorary Organization since 2005. This quarter, Christina is interning at the Society for International Development.
Jonathan Avery is a junior from Columbus, OH with a major in Economics and a minor in Geography. Jon’s past volunteer experiences have included mentoring children at Camp Akita, organizing community service projects around central Ohio for Community Commitment, and taking a leadership role in OSU’s Homecoming Week planning committee. This quarter, Jonathan is interning at Ohio State’s Federal Relations Office.
Ashley Burman is a graduating senior form Cincinnati, OH double majoring in International Studies and Political Science. A recipient of the Alpha Lamda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma Honors, and the Outstanding First Year Student awards, Ashley has dedicated herself to serving others through her work with the Ronald McDonald House and the American Red Cross. This winter, Ashley is interning at The AIDS Institute.
Edgar (Ted) Charlton is a graduating senior from Cincinnati, OH with a major in Political Science. This past summer and fall, Ted was involved in various Democratic campaigns in Ohio, most notably Congressman Ted Strickland’s campaign for Governor and Congressman Sherrod Brown’s campaign for United States Senate. An honors student, Ted is a member of several societies on campus, including the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the International Golden Key Honor Society, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. While in Washington, Ted is interning in the office of Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH).
Dave Colner is a senior from Upper Arlington, OH with a major in Political Science and a minor in International Studies, with a focus on economic and political development. For the past two years, Dave has volunteered for The Women’s Health Initiative and The Osteoarthritis Initiative doing research-related work. Dave also had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy at the University of Lecce in the summer of 2005 learning the Italian language and culture. With a strong interest in global development, this winter Dave is interning at OneWorld, United States.
Charles Crouch is a graduating senior from Akron, OH with a major in Political Science and a minor in Economics. For the past year and a half, Charles has indulged his love for history by acting as a historical re-enactor in the U.S. 90th Infantry Division Preservation Group. Charles is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key International Honor Society. Charles has held various leadership positions in “The Pragmatist” newspaper on campus. This quarter, Charles is interning at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Philip DeSenze is a senior from Hanovertown, OH with a major in Political Science and a minor in American-Indian Studies. A recent recipient of the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Senior Honorary, the Mortar Board Senior Honorary, and the Mershon Institute for International Security Undergraduate Fellow awards, Philip has been very active in several organizations on campus including the Libertarian Studies Organization, Sierra Club, and the American-Indian Council. While in Washington, Philip is interning at the U.S. Department of Education’s White House Initiative for Tribal Colleges and Universities.
Sydney King is a senior from Wellsville, OH with a major in Political Science and a minor in Communication. Sydney has held leadership posts in almost all volunteer activities she has engaged in, including the position of Justice in the Pan-Hellenic Association, and a committee leader in the Standards of Excellence, Diversity Committee on campus. This winter, Sydney is interning at the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Homeland Security Department.
Aaron Maggied is a graduating senior from Beachwood, OH double majoring in Physics and Astronomy. Aaron’s academic background in quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and astrophysics has lead to interesting research opportunities at the Akzo Nobel Coatings, Inc. and at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Aaron is a member of the OSU Astronomical Society and the Society of Physics Students, and this winter he is interning at the Federation of American Scientists.
Philip Maxon is a senior from Portsmouth, OH triple majoring in International Relations, Arabic, and History. Philip spent the summer of 2005 in Damascus, Syria studying Arabic, and while in the Middle East, used the opportunity to travel to Jordan and Lebanon to expand on his language skills. Philip’s past volunteer activities include an internship at the Columbus Council on World Affairs and as a facilitator to foreign dignitaries at the International Visitors Council. With a strong interest in national defense policy and diplomacy, this quarter Philip is interning at the Arms Control Association.
David Morgan is a graduating senior from Chillicothe, OH with a major in Political Science. Service has been, and continues to be, a major aspect of David’s life. He was a member of the Mount Leadership Society assisting in food pantry and work-related activities with the Big Brother/Sister organization, and since 2004, he has worked with Ohio Staters, Inc., Undergraduate Student Government, and Community Commitment, in order to enhance and deepen his volunteer activities. While in Washington, David is interning at TransAfrica.
Meredith Ross is a senior from Cincinnati, OH double majoring in Sociology and Political Science, with a minor in Spanish. Fluent in Spanish, Meredith spent the summer of 2006 in Toledo, Spain with Ohio State’s study abroad program. Meredith’s civic activities have included tutoring at St. Francis DeSales Elementary After-School Program and Medary Elementary School. This quarter, Meredith is interning at the United States Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education.
Elizabeth Thomas is a senior from Mansfield, OH with a major in International Studies and a minor in Italian. During Elizabeth’s sophomore year, she studied the Italian language and culture at the Scuola Di Italiano Per Straniere in Lecce, Italy. Elizabeth’s extracurricular activities include memberships in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the International Studies Club, and she has served in a leadership capacity as vice president of the Italian Club. While in Washington, Elizabeth is interning at the International Women’s Democracy Center.
Shelby Wolf is a graduating senior from Cleveland, TN with a major in Health Sciences-Health Management and a minor in General Business. With a focus on health care management, Shelby has interned at the American Cancer Society, the Arthritis Foundation’s Programs and Services Department, and at the OSU Medical Center. Shelby has been on the Dean’s List every quarter since fall 2004. This quarter, Shelby is interning at America’s Health Insurance Plans Center for Policy and Research.
